Project Based Learning Competition
Introduction
Project Based Learning (PBL) is a new Teaching and Learning strategy introduced in our education system. PBL enhance the students ability and creativity. It gives the students the opportunity to do a research and present their research on topics taught by the teacher. Presentation by students can be done using various media such as ICT.
Objective
Objective of this competition is to encourage students to do a research and present it using ICT.
Participation
Only for MBSSKL students
Terms & Conditions
1. Criteria for participation
a. All Form 1,2,4 and L6 students can participate
b. Form 5 and 6 students who are interested can participate in the open category
c. Each team should consist of 3-5 students and 1 teacher as facilitator
2. Selection of Project Proposal
a. 10 best proposal from each form will be selected by panel of judges
b. Selected team will be notified to carry out their projects
3. Project Proposal
a. Title : Choose one title only ( Either English or Bahasa Malaysia)
b. Teams will prepare a project proposal based on the chosen title.
c. Proposal should consist the following

4. Project Proposal Submission:
a. All Project Proposal must be submitted to Pn. Munni
5. Prizes
a. For each category the will be 5 prizes
i. First Prize : RM400.00
ii. Second Prize : RM200.00
iii. Third Prize : RM 150.00
iv. 2 Consolation Prizes : RM100 each

Instruction
Title
Give a title to the project. Preferably the title should be interesting. For example:
- “Are China, India and the United States responsible for the price hike in petrol?”
- “Is our mother earth heading for doom in 50 years from now?”
- “We are poisoning ourselves with preservatives everyday”
- “Is there a cure for cancer now?” “Are alternative sources of energy feasible?”
Introduction
Give a short introduction to the title you have chosen and its objective
Project Scope
Describe the scope of your project. This may include ages/grades of students involved, the scope of your data collection (school, public, and age group), duration, etc
E.g.
- Student Grades: Grade 8 (Form 2, 13 years)
- Duration: Approximately. 5 weeks
- Target Group: The general public / youths / school pupils etc
Curriculum and Standards
Indicate how the project is relevant to your syllabus. You need to consult your teacher on this matter. The relevancy covers both the title (which may be related to Science) or the skills required for this project.
E.g.
- Mathematics Form 2, 13.0 Statistics
• 13:1 Concept of data
• 13.2 Concept of frequency.
• 13.3 Represent and interpret data in (a) pictograms, (b) bar charts, (c) line graphs
- English Language Form 2, 2.0 Language for information use
• Presenting information to Audience by writing a simple report complete with tables and /or pie charts
Essential Questions
Put in writing the questions that the project hopes to answer
E.g.
- Are our homes ready for the 21st century learning?
- What are the poisonous preservatives found in our food today?
Grouping
List down the members of your group. An ideal number would be 3.
Teacher Advisor
List down the name/s of the teacher/s whom you wish to engage as advisor. It is important that the teacher is teaching the subject on which your project is based
Workplan
Use the “Work Plan Template” to build your work plan.
Resources Plan
List resources that will be required during the project,
E.g.
- Computer
- Printer
- Internet
- Printing of survey questions
- Application software : Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Graph/Grid paper
Artifacts
List artifacts that will be created during the project
E.g.
- Discarded Survey question
- Tally sheets
- Unused graphs and charts
- Students’ Learning journal
- Draft presentation
- Draft personal report
Project Output
Describe the output which is expected to be created during the project and how they will be presented.
The minimum output of the project are a full report in both hard copy (bound) and soft copy, and a multi-media presentation of the project using any software. Other desirable outputs are a specially created website for this project, videos, self learning software/courseware, etc.
