STPM 2009: MBS boy is one of the top in the nation
Once again MBSSKL shows very good results for the STPM 2009. One of our students, Lim Thiam Sang was on of the 15 students in the nation that obtained a maximum of 5A’s. Three other students Tan Sock Mun, Chong Siew Ling and Lau Kar Mun obtained a Cumulative Gross Point Average (CGPA) of 4.0. It was a inspiring feat by Sock Mun, as she is suffering from a mild cerebral palsy which affects some of her motor movements, including writing. She is indeed proof that the disabled have great potential given the right support and opportunities. Interestingly, all the top performers of last year’s STPM results were from the Arts stream. The detailed analysis shows that most of the Arts subjects had significant improvement while the Science subjects showed mild declines. Notable improvements are seen in Accounting, Business Studies, Economics, Visual Arts and Mathematics S, while declines are seen in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics T. Overall, the school has a CGPA of 2.73, the best in 5 years. The analysis of each subject from 2001-2009 can be downloaded from here.
