July 24 2010 proved to be a very memorable and joyous day for MBSSKL. The whole school, including the PTA had worked hard leading to the carnival. Tickets sales, stalls, food, sponsorship, games, cleanliness, parking, etc,etc were issues to be worked on before the day. But feedback from the crowd gave the best satisfaction for the hard work put in. Many are of the opinion that never in a school carnival the place was so clean and well organised with so many stalls in such a joyous and cheerful occasion. The day started with the students and teachers gathering and laying out their food items and the others getting ready their games stall. The crowd sized up at about 9am. At exactly 10am, the Lion Dance Troupe staged a splendid performance to welcome the Methodist Schools alumni from all over Malaysia and also two alumni from Hong Kong. This was followed by the traditional kompang welcome. The entourage was then taken to visit the food and games stall area and the 1st KL Company Boys’ Brigade staged a few formation tunes to the delight of the crowd. The total revenue from the carnival was in the excess of RM110,000 and all stakeholders – students, parents, teachers, alumni had played their part to make it the most successful carnival in the history of MBSSKL.

Once again, MBSSKL has proven itself to be a very formidable force in Ping Pong. Straight after winning the state championship this year, the team had another feather in its cap, this time clinching the title in the very prestigious Tan Sri Dato’ Tong Yoke Kim Cup Tournament. This tournament attracts some of the best ping pong teams in the Klang Valley, especially teams from the Chinese Secondary Schools. The team comprising Goh Gee Seng, Goh Nai Ngee, Tan Khang Wai and Lee Kuan Wing fought point for point in the nail biting finals against Kwang Hwa Secondary School to win 3-2. Under the guidance of the school coach Gordon Hiew, the Ping Pong team had done the school proud in many tournaments. Go Forward MBS

On the 23rd to 25th of July, MBSSKL sent 2 teams to fight in the war of words and wits with 80 other teams coming from different schools nationwide. The 1st National British Parliamentary Inter High School Debating Championship 2010 saw MBS team A which consisted of Vigknaraja and Michael Fork and MBS team B which was formed by Quah Zhong Yao and Chong Ther Zen appearing confident with the debating skills they possess. The term British Parliamentary might seem unfamiliar to most school students, but our debaters are equipped with the necessary skills after participating various university debating championships. After the end of 5 preliminary rounds which involved subjects like education, social issues, local and international politics, team MBS A managed to emerge as the first team with the highest score. Team MBS B tried their best, entering the double –quarters with much of the MBS spirit, determined to deliver the best of their best. During the breaking rounds, team MBS A met even more challenging teams, from SMJK Chung Hua, SMK Katholik and SMK Sri Permata. During the finals, when the motion “This House Believes that Student Gang Members Should be sent to Henry Gurney even if no crimes have been committed” was released, school teams from SMK Sri Permata, SMK Sains Sri Puteri and SMK Saint George were all vying to grab the champion title. After an hour of grueling debate, MBS team A was announced as the champion. Vigknaraja was also announced as the 9th overall best speaker, with his partner, Michael Fork grabbing the title of the 8th overall best speaker. They also won in cash RM$2,000 and a 100% scholarship for any pre-university program sponsored by KDU college. They also brought home the Champion trophy. Go forward MBS!
