One of the old boys whom we are proud to have been in contact with is Mr Edmund Bon Tai Soon (class of 1991). Mr Bon is the current Malaysian representative for the ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights (AICHR). His first 3 year term is ending soon. He has been shortlisted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the next term.

During his term, with his training as a lawyer, he has co-operated with many Malaysian government agencies on issues such as freedom of expression and media, the implementation of international human rights law by the courts, legal aid, gender equality, water and sanitation, and the rights of women, children, the indigenous persons living with disabilities, migrant workers and refugees. With the experience of his first term, it has given him better insights into what he can do for the human rights progress in the region*.
