Intel Core i7 & AMD Phenom II

Intel Core i7 was officially released on November 17, 2008. Fastest processor on this planet! Currently only supported by X58 motherboards and DDR3 RAMs. Expect Core i5 in Q2, 2009! The Core i5s are basically a strip down version of Core i7, without the QPI technology and such. According to many sources, Intel intends to continue the Core 2(LGA 775) lines alongside with Core i7(LGA 1366) & Core i5(LGA115X) with different sockets.
AMD Phenom II AM2+ version was officially released in December. Exact date unknown. The AM3 version was released very recently, on February 9, 2009. The AM3 version of Phenom II supports DDR3 memory.

Here’s a short review: Intel Core i7 Vs. AMD Phenom II

Both series features 45nm fabrication technology, but the addition of DDR3 IMC in Core i7 made it a clear winner when compared to many other processor even those with higher clock speed.
