RHB-Mighty Minds competition is held every year which tests the knowledge, skills and creativity of students in the field of science. For the second time since its inception in 2009, MBSSKL clinched the champion title, this time for the under 15 category. The boys, Albert, Nishan and Marcus will be pitted against the champions of other states in the national finals in October. For more information please click here.

Dato’ Teo CQ Officiates Speech Day

30 April 2011 was day to remember for the prize winners, parents and teachers. Dato’ Teo Chiang Quan, the president of the MBS KL Alumni Association and prominent philanthropist officiated the speech day to make it truly memorable. The welcoming ceremony was ever joyous with the traditional kompang, accompanied by bunga mangga and a tune by the Boys’ Brigade. Students from the Uniform Units, who had formed a line, then greeted the guests who were on their way to the school hall, which had recently been air conditioned, thanks to the generosity of Chiang Quan. In his speech, Chiang Quan encouraged students to remember the school and return to help their alma mater when they are successful. He also reminded them to remember and honour their dear teachers who have sacrificed for their success and well being. Also present at the event were the chairman of the Board of Governors, Mr Chooi Mun Sou, president of the PTA, Mr Ron Leong, prominent old boys Mr Wong Chee Kooi and Mr Lee Tak Suan, Stedfast Association President Mr Michael Yei who is also a board member and numerous active alumni members.DSC_0475

SPM 2010: Better results than 2009

MBSSKL obtained improved results for the SPM 2010. The overall performance, measured by the average grade of the school, improved from 3.32 in 2009 to 3.26 in 2010, giving MBSSKL a top 10 position in KL. The number of students with straight A’s this year is 16 compared to 15 last year and one student had 9A+. About 44% of the students obtained 5A’s or more compared to 45% in 2009. A total of 97.22% of the students obtained full certificates compared to a 100% in 2009, as five of the 180 students failed in their Bahasa Malaysia. MBS Boy, Ian Barr Makes Headlines in Swimming

He makes headlines again in the Malaysian Schools Sports Council Swimming Meet in Malacca. STPM 2010: MBS Boy with 5As is Top 4 in the Nation

MBS Boy Ling Xiao Chun made the school proud by scoring 5As and emerging as one the top 4 students in the nation. Only 4 students in the country scored all As in the 13 papers and he is one of them. Honoured by the Ministry of Education in a ceremony on 21 February 2011, Xiao Chun attributes his success to the dedication of the teachers and the constant encouragement and support given by them. Aspiring to be a doctor, he is now applying to some of the top universities in the world. MBSSKL also emerges as the top school in KL with the largest number of students who scored a CGPA of 2.67 or more. More than 50% of the students scored a CGPA of 3.0 or more, compared to only 23.19% nationally. The school CGPA of 2.82 is also the best since 2002, placing it as the top 47 schools in the nation for STPM. More than 80% of MBSSKL students are expected to obtain places in the local universities.
